UG Data-Based Decisions
Decisions and actions taken based on direct and indirect indicators:
- Capstone quiz performance was satisfactory for nature of the quiz. We are continuing to strengthen the content, process, and reporting of this indicator to make it more informative about students graduating with satisfactory summative knowledge of the field.
- UG Learning Objectives performance was satisfactory. Across instructional focus areas, the large majority of students earn B- or better. No patterns emerged across areas or by modality.
- Moved clinical observations from COMD 2600 into a separate 1-credit COMD 2400 to allow better curriculum sequencing and improve access to 2600 for students not in the major.
- COMD 5210 on cultural and linguistic diversity was discontinued due to low enrollment and other factors.
- IDEA results show campus and online students were satisfied with the core objectives of teaching content matter and specific competency/perspectives. We will continue teaching this program with no major changes. For the very small number of courses with less satisfactory results, instructors will examine how to improve student satisfaction. To obtain a more complete dataset, instructors will be requested to select both examined objectives if those objectives fit their courses.
Plu
s further improvements in progress in 2024-25:
- Add questions to the Capstone quiz to allow examination of sub-area performance and make performance worth a small bit of the grade in the course in which it is administered.
- Examine IDEA student evaluations across relevant courses on two objectives:
IDEA Obj#1 Gaining a basic understanding of the subject (e.g., factual knowledge, methods, principles, generalizations, theories)
IDEA Obj#4. Developing specific skills, competencies, and points of view needed by professionals in the field most closely related to this course
