Assessment Plan/Process

SLP Faculty meet as a full group monthly and, as needed, in subgroups to assess graduate SLP program performance and determine changes. Annual SLP graduate outcome data are reviewed in the SLP Division August “Retreat” meeting. An annual report is submitted by the SLP Program Director to the external accrediting body every August 1. A full re-evaluation for continuing accreditation is submitted every 8 years, with the next to occur in 2032.

MA/MS SLP students are evaluated and tracked in a dual system of course grades and competency achievement. For grades, students must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better every semester with a minimum acceptable course grade of B- (80%). For competency achievement, instructors must have empirical evidence that each student has met a measurable version (objective) of the knowledge and skill course standard linked to that course or clinical setting. If the student does not meet the competency objective, additional remediation actions.
