Goal 1: Teachers are constantly assessing their students and classes. Technology provides new tools and ways of assessing students. Two such tools are Kahoot! & Formative.
Teachers are constantly doing assessments during the school day. Not only do teachers administer quizzes and tests, but they also check for understanding throughout the day and during lessons to help guide instruction. There are a variety of ways teachers do this. Some information is gathered through simply observing students or walking around and asking questions while students work. Other information is gathered through fun, creative, and unique informal assessments teachers invent, such as using hand signals, 4 corners (students stand in the corner that best represents their understanding and how they feel about a lesson or topic), and many more.
In today's world it is becoming more and more common for teachers to incorporate and use technology to assess their students. Many teachers are starting to use digital formative assessment apps and tools. With these apps, it is easy to create short quizzes, polls, and more that students can answer anonymously, giving teachers the feedback they need to improve instruction and truly help their students to learn and grow.
Two of the most popular formative assessment tools currently are Kahoot! and Formative. Below we will introduce and explain how these two incredible resources work, as well as how they can be used.
Goal 2: Introduction and overview of Kahoot!
