Alan BakerSpeech & Hearing Sciences What I love about the Speech and Hearing Sciences Department at Utah State is how much it’s focused on truly helping people. The department’s mission to prepare students to meet the diverse needs of individuals with communication differences is something I see carried out every day in my classes and experiences. Being part of the College of Education and Human Services means being surrounded by people who are passionate about empowering others, and that energy is contagious. As a Communicative Disorders major with a strong interest in audiology, I feel excited knowing that I’m gaining the knowledge and skills to make a real difference in people’s lives. There’s nothing more meaningful to me than helping someone connect with the world through better hearing and communication—and being an Aggie gives me the chance to do just that while learning in a supportive, inspiring community. Hannah SpackmanHuman Development and Family Studies I’m so excited to be part of the Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) department! One of the biggest reasons I chose HDFS is because I genuinely love working with people. No matter what job you end up in, you’ll be interacting with others, and I love that this major gives me the chance to learn from those experiences. I’m really looking forward to representing HDFS this year because the work we do matters. I can’t wait to make a difference in people’s lives while also learning from the amazing people I meet along the way. |

Will HullKinesiology What I love about the Kinesiology program is that it is super hands on! Students not only learn through classes but get to have hands-on experience to practice skills that kinesiology professionals use everyday, whether that is through course labs or through the variety of research labs that students can be a part of! The professors in this department are some of the best and truly want you to succeed. You’ll also have no shortage of support from other students as this major is one of the biggest in the college! Nursing My passion for nursing began in high school when I took Human Anatomy and discovered how much I loved learning about the human body and caring for others. The Utah State University Nursing Program is the perfect blend of those interests and so much more. From mastering life-saving procedures to brightening someone’s day through compassionate care, the BSN program prepares us to become essential members of our community. The professors are deeply invested in our success, and the cohort truly becomes like family throughout the two-year journey. With access to advanced technologies and hands-on training, we are given every opportunity to refine our skills and grow in confidence. I would wholeheartedly recommend this program to anyone—it is truly exceptional. Go Aggies! |
Gabriela Pacheco MartinezPsychology I’ve always been the person asking why? Why do we think the way we do? Why do people act the way they act? That curiosity is what pulled me into psychology—and why I love studying it here at USU. The psych program at Utah State is more than just classes; it’s professors who genuinely want you to succeed, opportunities to dive into research, and chances to get involved in volunteering that actually makes a difference. There’s truly a place for everyone, no matter what path you want to take. For me, psychology at USU is about exploring what makes us human and learning how to use that knowledge to improve lives. I love being an Aggie—it’s where curiosity, purpose, and community all come together. |
