In this day and age, the resources out there for learning and growth are beyond number. Kids continually gain knowledge in and out of the classroom. We all learn from the world around us and the experiences we have as we learn, grow, and explore. Kids can learn an immense amount from using technology and exploring online. If they are curious or have a question about anything, they can easily type it into Google receiving an instant answer.
The world really is our classroom.

Additionally, there is a growing problem of students falling behind during the summer months. According to the National Summer Learning Association, "On average, all students lose approximately 2.6 months of grade level equivalency in mathematical computation over the summer months". Many students also suffer from what has been termed as "Summer Reading Loss". Students, especially those from lower income families, can lose as much as three grade level months each summer, resulting in a loss of up to three years by the time they graduate high school! For more information on this topic feel free to read these articles put out by Reading Rockets, On Summer Loss and On Summer Reading Loss. Students should always continue learning. They need to stay caught up and be consistently exercising their brains so they are ready when school starts back up in the fall.
