The Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services is a beneficiary of Trust Lands funding as a teaching college at a public university. Funds are distributed annually based on teaching degrees awarded. Reference the Trust Lands Administration website (trustlands.utah.gov) for additional information.
Funds Use:
Trust Lands funds will be used in support of the college’s mission to provide teaching, service, and research in a variety of disciplines to improve the teaching and learning wherever it takes place and to increase the effectiveness of services for individuals, families, communities, schools, and organizations. Priority will be given to college requests supporting educators. These mission objectives are allocated in seven funding categories:
- Education Infrastructure – Personnel to support college administration of teacher education programs.
- Educational Outreach – Initiatives that disseminate college research and materials across the state, engage future students to the college and its programs, support direct educational activities that engage our students and/or the broader community.
- Student Awards – Financial scholarships to college student ambassadors who positively represent and service the college and tuition waivers for School of Teacher Education PhD and EdD students and/or Special Education and Rehabilitation Students in the Disability PhD program with a .5 FTE graduate assistantship.
- Student Outreach – Initiatives to recruit and engage potential students.
- Student Teaching & Program Support – Funds to support student teaching expenses and technology supports.
- School of Teacher Education and Leadership (TEAL) Support – Initiatives that support the department’s mission and goals by providing one-time investment funding to improve infrastructure, technology, and faculty/staff development and/or research support.
- Special Education Program Support - Initiatives that support the SPERC department’s mission and goals in special education by providing one-time investment funding to improve infrastructure, technology, and faculty/staff development and/or research support.
Disallowed Use: Funds can not be used for donations or alcohol.
Budget Approver: Trust Lands Advisory Committee, which includes Shawn Whiteman, CEHS Dean; Steven Camicia, School of Teacher Education and Leadership, Department Head; Sylvia Read, Associate Dean, Accreditation & Undergraduate Studies; Elizabeth Schade, TEAL Student; and Kathy Clements, Financial Officer (Ex Officio).
