Emma Eccles Jones Foundation Donates Nearly $1M to Create USU Collaboratory for Innovation in Teaching and Leadership for Early-Career Teachers Statewide
The Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services, with the generous support of the Emma Eccles Jones Foundation, announces the Utah State University Collaboratory for Innovation in Teaching and Leadership led by Nate Justis, Ph.D., principal of the Edith Bowen Laboratory School, a public charter school located on the USU Logan campus. The USU Collaboratory, inspired by the Academy of Singapore Teachers, targets early-career teachers, master teachers, and school leaders by providing support and leadership opportunities.Research & News
Initiative Aims to Build Community Network for Dementia Support Across Utah
A new statewide effort is underway to better support Utahns living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, along with the family members who care for them. The Community-Based Dementia Resource Ambassador Training Initiative aims to train community members to understand dementia, access high-quality local support, and share accurate information with others. These individuals will become Dementia Resource Ambassadors, serving as trusted connectors in their communities.
Education Majors Begin Inaugural Apprenticeship Program With Full-Time Training in Utah Classrooms
USU has partnered with the Utah State Board of Education in URAPT, the Utah Registered Apprenticeship Program for Teachers that gives education majors the opportunity to work full-time in a classroom as an apprentice while earning their bachelor’s degree and a certificate in education. The program aims to give future teachers extensive hands-on experience, help them enter the profession, and encourage them to stay in the field long-term.
Speech and Hearing Sciences Professor Stephanie Borrie Named Interim Associate Dean for Research
Stephanie Borrie, Ph.D., has been named interim associate dean for research in the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services. Borrie will engage with national and international research organizations, participate in interdisciplinary collaborations within USU and other institutions, and oversee the diverse infrastructures that sustain the college’s impactful research enterprise.
Combined Psychology Doctoral Program at USU Celebrates 50 Years
For 50 years, the Combined Psychology Doctoral Program at USU has focused on both clinical and research training, combining clinical and counseling psychology to prepare students as skilled, compassionate practitioners and scholars. Through coursework, guided research, and supervised clinical experience, students learn to integrate science and practice to support human well-being. Since its accreditation, the Combined Doctoral Program has graduated nearly 300 students.
