Research on Capitol Hill Celebrates 25 Years of Undergraduate Research

Undergraduates from Utah State University and the University of Utah, both Carnegie-designated R1 institutions, collaborated to present undergraduate research to legislators at the recent 25th annual Research on Capitol Hill event. Students visited the Utah State Capitol on February 20 during the 2025 Utah Legislative Session. Among those selected to represent USU were six students and their faculty advisors from the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services.

New leadership fellows Professor Jennifer Grewe and Jairo Hernandez, CEHS database administrator, meet with Associate Dean Sylvia Read and Communications Director Alicia Richmond.Fellows Announced in Inaugural Dean’s Leadership Fellow Program

The Dean’s Leadership Fellow Program has announced four new fellows who will participate in the program for 2025. The program will give participants insight into the administrative and operational structure of the college along with mentorship by college leadership. The capstone of the annual program will be projects the fellows complete to benefit college operations.

USU student Elli Price uses the Aira app at the USU Campus Store. Visual Interpreting Service Aira Comes to USU Through the IDRPP

Aira, a visual interpreting app that provides services for the blind and low-vision community, is now available for students, faculty, and staff at USU. Access to the app is made possible through a one-year pilot program funded by the Institute for Disability Research, Policy, & Practice within the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services.

Heather WeeseSpecial Education Professional Practice Professor Receives National Award

Heather Weese, professional practice assistant professor in Special Education and Rehabilitation Counseling, is the 2025 recipient of the Outstanding Student Chapter Advisor Award from the Council for Exceptional Children. The award recognizes an advisor who demonstrates exemplary commitment to members of a student chapter by guiding their educational, personal, and professional development in the field of special education.
