Professors from TEAL Attend Inaugural White House Summit on Equity and Excellence in STEMM
Drs. Colby Tofel-Grehl and Mario Suárez in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership (TEAL) were honored to attend the inaugural White House Summit on Equity and Excellence in STEMM. According to Tofel-Grehl, the summit enabled them to “build networks around diversifying opportunities and access across STEM for young people.”
Outstanding Graduates of the CEHS Class of 2024
CEHS recently celebrated undergraduate and graduate convocation exercises. Representing eight departments, more than 1,100 undergraduates and more than 330 graduate students earned degrees.
Pandemic Prompts USU Student to Pursue Healthcare Career in Navajo Nation
For USU student LaQuinlynn Francis, the commitment to pursue a degree in health education and promotion with an emphasis in health science within CEHS carries a deeply personal significance. Because she is from the Navajo Nation, Francis’s decision was fueled by the devastating impact of the pandemic on her community and a profound aspiration to comprehend and address prevalent health issues in the community where she grew up.
Scot Allgood, a Professor and Department Head of HDFS, Honored for His Legacy of Service
Scot Allgood, a marriage and family therapy professor at Utah State for the past 32 years and department head of Human Development and Family Studies for the past 14 years, will retire next fall. Throughout his career, the desire to serve others has been a guiding force for Allgood, and his career accomplishments reflect that standard. In addition to his rigorous teaching schedule, service on local and academic boards, and his private clinical practice, Allgood has been instrumental in creating programs—both on and off campus—to serve those most in need.
