U.S. News and World Report, a global leader in education rankings, has again placed Utah State University's Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services in the top tier of graduate colleges of education in the nation.

The college is the only school of education in Utah to place in the top 50 and remains the #1 college of education in the state — a title it has held for 21 years.

In the 2022 edition of "America's Best Graduate Schools," U.S. News ranked the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services graduate programs #32 out of 277 Graduate Schools of Education in the nation, putting the college in the top 11.5% of all U.S. schools. The college is ranked ahead of every Board of Regents peer and ahead of institutions such as University of Colorado at Boulder, University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign, and Purdue University.

U.S. News and World Report bases its rankings on a weighted average of 10 quality measures, including peer assessments, faculty resources, faculty awards, and GRE scores for doctoral students.

“Our college is ranked second in the entire Intermountain West, which is an immensely rewarding classification,” said Jamison Fargo, interim dean of the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services. “These high rankings, which place us among the most elite schools of education nationally, are a resounding endorsement of the excellence of our faculty, staff, and students.”

Of significant note, the college also retained its #12 spot in the nation in external research funding. With faculty and staff securing $40 million in funded research, USU is ahead of the colleges of education at universities like Stanford, Northwestern, and the University of Michigan. “We are pleased to be recognized as one of the top leaders in the country in external funding. These funds support our research, teaching, and service projects that benefit our students, community, state, and nation,” said Fargo.

Another notable achievement for the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services is the status of their online bachelor’s programs in Psychology. Currently ranked #8 in the nation, the program boasts award-winning faculty who hold leadership positions in national and international organizations focused on the scholarship of teaching and learning. The psychology program has also received national recognition for undergraduate research, providing opportunities for students to conduct both group and individual research projects.

The Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services is committed to providing outstanding real-world research and service opportunities to students and faculty in human service disciplines.
