Support the Nursing Expansion

Proposed Expansion of USU Nursing Program

Major expansion of our Nursing Program will include a second Nursing education wing, located in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) Building. This will enable us to duplicate our existing nursing space, doubling the number of pre-nursing majors accepted into the program.

Over 400 students have declared a pre-nursing major at USU. Due to space limitations, only 30 students are admitted to the BSN program each year, with a total of 60 students enrolled at a time. With additional space, the program size could be doubled to admit 60 pre-licensure BSN students each year. The proposed renovation in the HPER building would provide sufficient lab, classroom, and simulation space to accommodate the additional students.

The USU Nursing Program enriches regional, national, and global communities through evidence-based nursing education. Our curriculum prepares students to demonstrate professionalism while providing high-quality holistic care. Our new graduates have a first time pass rate of 94% (overall pass rate of 100%) exceeding the U.S. national first time pass rate of 82.48%.

A large majority of our graduates, 70%, have stayed in Utah, while 20% have started their careers close by in Idaho.
