Virtual Telescopes

Today, there are a variety of great solar system exploration sites that enable your computer to function as a virtual telescope—bringing together imagery from the best ground and space based telescopes in the world for a seamless exploration of the universe. They are Visually stimulating, filled with information and facts, and sprinkled with multimedia and interactive.

Did you know that Google Maps will also let you explore other members of our solar system?
Here's how.
  1. Go to Google Maps in your browser.
  2. Switch from map to satellite view. It's the little view box in the lower left corner of Google Maps.
  3. Zoom out, zoom out, zoom out until you can no longer zoom out. The left sidebar will then turn into a list of other solar system bodies that you can visit. Click on any solar body to go visit there. 
  4. Have fun exploring!
