USU Special Education Researchers Awarded $5.4M for Pilot Program with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation
Utah State University researchers Brian Phillips, associate professor of Special Education and Rehabilitation Counseling, and Tim Riesen, research associate professor and director of research and training in the Institute for Disability Research, Policy, and Practice, were recently awarded a $5.4 million contract to expand access to transition services for youth and young adults with disabilities. Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education Department Receives Two OSEP Grants for Graduate Studies
The US is experiencing a critical shortage nationwide for trained and certified professionals in deaf education, speech-language pathology, and pediatric audiology. As part of this training, a two-year graduate program is required for students to practice in the pediatric field with children who are deaf or hard of hearing (D/HH).
InsideOut Dad Program for Incarcerated Men Receives $10M from US Department of Health and Human Services
Brian Higginbotham, professor of Human Development and Family Studies, has devoted years of his career to bringing the InsideOut Dad program to jails and state correctional facilities throughout Utah. The program is a collaboration with the Utah State Board of Corrections that helps men develop parenting skills.
ADRC Begins Funding Dementia Research Across Utah
With the Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Research Center (ADRC) entering its second year, the state-funded center at Utah State University is now supporting Alzheimer’s and dementia research across Utah. By opening statewide applications for research support, the ADRC is growing its research impact and reach.
CEHS Invests in Graduate Students by Awarding More Than 100 Research Awards
The College of Education and Human Services is investing approximately $100,000 annually in graduate student research with the CEHS Graduate Student Research Award program. The awards, which can total $4,000 each, comprise matching contributions from the college’s Office of Research Services and the student’s home department.
USU Psychology Professor Amy Odum Receives Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Psychological Association
Amy Odum, a professor in the Psychology Department has been selected as the 2024 recipient of a lifetime achievement award by the American Psychological Association (APA) in Division 25: Behavior Analysis for her pioneering work in delay discounting and resistance to change.
