Message from the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services

June 8, 2020
A circle of people putting their hands together.

In the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services, we have long been committed to the values of equality and inclusivity. We are now greatly inspired by the courage of those peacefully protesting national and global systems of racism. The worldwide demonstrations following the tragic killing of George Floyd are on an unprecedented scale, and these protests are bringing about important transformations for all of us. For those in the Black community, we know that you carry an additional burden, and we use our voices to stand in solidarity with you. We are listening and we are learning.

Each of us can work harder to stretch beyond our comfort zones and seek to understand the experiences of those who have been systemically marginalized. Our college will continue to seek growth in this area, as we renew our commitment to an environment of respectful learning, inclusion, and equality for all.
