Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Education Initiatives

Utah State University signed a resolution on Feb. 12, 2020 with the Department of Justice after a multi-year review of the University's policies and practices for responding to reports of sexual misconduct involving students between 2013 and early 2017. As part of this resolution, USU was given several recommendations for improving its response to sexual misconduct.

Since fall 2016, many new prevention and education initiatives have been put into place at Utah State University. USU is committed to a working and learning environment that is free of sexual misconduct.

Beth Foley, dean of the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services, supports these changes and is fully backing President Cockett’s initiatives. “Student safety is our first priority,” said Dean Foley. “We encourage all students, staff, and faculty to be informed about the importance of respect and consent, as well as the resources available through USU.”
