Interdisciplinary Studies and General Studies - Human Services

Learning Outcomes

Students graduating with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies or General Studies-Human Service will:

  • Develop an awareness of interdisciplinary opportunities in education and human services.
  • Articulate how their life experiences and course work have given them the ability to think critically, solve problems, and make ethical decisions related to their chosen area of concentration.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the major concepts, theoretical perspectives, research findings, and historical trends in their chosen area of concentration.
  • Synthesize information from diverse sources in their chosen area of focus, make and support decisions based on that information, and communicate those decisions.

Assessment Measures

Student learning outcomes in Interdisciplinary Studies degree and General Studies-Human Services degree plans will be measured using an exit survey and a portfolio of written work that will scored with a rubric. The exit survey, portfolio guidelines, and portfolio rubric are currently being designed. Pilot data will be collected in Spring, Summer, and Fall 2022.
