Welcome to the Early Childhood and Elementary Teacher Education programs at Utah State University, Logan, Utah. In accordance with the mission statement of the School of Teacher Education and Leadership, we research, teach, lead, and serve in partnership with other stakeholders in the educational process and we continually evaluate our research, teaching, leadership, and service to ensure their relevance and effectiveness.

Our undergraduate and graduate programs offer preparation and continuing professional development for teachers, supervisors, curriculum specialists, and other professional personnel pursuing careers in early childhood and elementary settings. In our undergraduate programs, we partner with the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation, as well as the Department of Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education to provide excellent teacher education preparation for undergraduate students interested in combining their passions for working with children.



 

All students are required to meet with their advisor at least once per semester.

Roadmap for Elementary Education

First Year


  • Pass MATH 1050 or MATH 1051 (with a grade of at least C-) and other required courses.
  • Pass FBI/BCI Check; this is a multi-step process.

Second Year



Third Year


  • Complete FAFSA paperwork. Apply for TEAL and CEHS scholarships. GPA and financial need are some of the criteria used to award scholarships. 
  • Apply for Student Teaching one semester in advance of the semester you'd like to teach. Student Teaching application. 
  • Take Reading and Content block courses, among other university and major requirements. 

Fourth Year
