The School of Teacher Education and Leadership (TEAL) administers a program leading to a doctoral degree (PhD) in Education specializing in Curriculum and Instruction. This degree is designed to prepare educators who wish to become:
- curriculum specialists,
- coordinators and supervisors in public or private school systems,
- leaders in state departments of public instruction,
- instructors at the college or university level in K-12 teacher or administrator preparation,
- educational researchers serving in various contexts.
PhD in Education Concentration Areas
All PhD in Education students must complete the required Curriculum & Instruction Specialization Core and Research Core coursework. Additionally, the PhD in Education Program offers coursework across disciplinary areas to fulfill requirements for an area of concentration. Students may select any of the five concentrations:
Cultural Studies in Education
School Leadership
Literacy Education and Leadership
Mathematics Education and Leadership
Science Education
