Synopsis

When it comes to garbage, most of us consider it "out of sight, out of mind." But the problem of where to put our garbage isn't a simple one. It's perfectly exemplified by the "garbage barge" of 1987, which couldn't find anywhere to unload thousands of tons of garbage. This is a great lesson in how regulations can impact the best laid plans, and why sustainability is top of mind for today's engineers.
