What are the admission deadlines?
The initial application deadline for Fall entry is January 15th. Later applications may be considered based on program capacity..
Is the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) required?
No, the GRE is no longer necessary as a component of the application.
What are the minimum requirements for admission?
3.00 GPA over the last 60 semester hours, resume or curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, all transcripts, and letter of intent.
Where do graduates of your doctoral specialization work?
Rehabilitation counselor educators and supervisors enter academic positions in colleges and universities, while others will enter research, administration, and clinical practice positions at universities, government agencies, and public and private rehabilitation agencies.
Where do I take courses?
Most if not all coursework is completed in-person and on-site at the main USU campus in Logan, Utah..
Can I complete my entire program at a distance?
Because of the significant amount and intensity of interactions with program advisors, mentors, and other faculty, we do not currently offer the option to complete the degree at a distance.
How long does it take to finish the program?
Students can go at their own pace through the program. Full-time students will typically complete the program over a period of four years.
Is there an internship component?
Yes, there is a practicum and multiple internships that must be completed during the program.
Is a dissertation required?
Yes. A dissertation is the culminating product of our doctoral program. A dissertation committee is created early in the program to support students in completion of this product.
How many total credits do I have to take to complete the program?
The doctoral specialization requires a minimum of 61 credits.
How can I find housing in the area?
There are a variety of on-campus and community-based housing options available for you to consider.

What is parking like on campus?
Parking is generally available, but perhaps not in the closest proximity to the buildings where classes originate from. With many of the classes in the evening, a parking pass is not necessarily required (but can be purchased through the USU Parking Office). There are also free busing options available through the USU Aggie Shuttle Bus (https://parking.usu.edu/aggie-shuttle/) and the community-based Cache Valley Transit (https://cvtdbus.org).
