About Rehabilitation Counseling Certification Programs

USU offers a post
-graduate advanced certificate in Rehabilitation & Disability Studies for the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) Category 3, which is sometimes required by employers for those wishing to work as rehabilitation counselors. The certificate, which can be completed in one year, prepares students to sit for the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) exam for national certification, which USU students pass at a 94% rate on the first attempt. This certificate and subsequent CRC certification allow professionals who have advanced degrees in areas other than rehabilitation counseling to become certified and move into a career as a rehabilitation counselor. For additional information on the CRCC Category 3, see the CRCC website https://crccertification.com/get-certified/.

Students pursuing this certificate must already have a master’s, specialist, or doctoral degree in a related field of study.

Students complete between six and eight courses for a total of 16-23 credits, all of which are completed online through USU’s Distance Education program. Students must earn a minimum of 16 credits to earn the certificate.

USU also offers certificate programs in Transition Services and Customized Employment. These certificates are not being offered at this time.
