Bio

Ryan is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) in the state of Utah and graduated with his PhD in human development and family studies (MFT emphasis) from Michigan State University. At the Sorenson Center, Ryan primarily provides MFT-related supervision to Master’s and PhD students. He also serves as the Director of the MFT service line and the Faculty Representative for the Housing and Financial Counseling program.

Ryan enjoys using a systemic perspective with individuals, couples, and families. He believes strongly that humans are wired for connection and that relationships can be a crucial mechanism of bringing about change. He has experience working with a wide range of presenting issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and couple relationship challenges. Ryan believes strongly in feedback informed treatment and the importance of collaborating with clients to ensure that they achieve their therapy goals.
