Aggies Elevated first hybrid Visit Day event

Aggies Elevated Visit Day 2022

As the final step in the application process, Aggies Elevated hosted an on-campus Visit Day for young adults and their parents who had applied to be part of this inclusive post-secondary program at Utah State University. The program launched at USU’s main campus in Logan in 2014, and will launch at USU Eastern’s campus in Price this summer.

Applicants travelled (or logged into Zoom) from all corners of Utah, California, and Egypt for the hybrid event. The morning sessions consisted of presentations on campus life, independent living, academic supports, social skills, and the differences between the Logan and Price campuses.

Parents met with Program Directors Sue Reeves (Logan) and Liz Dimond (Price) to discuss campus supports and expectations in more details, while the prospective students met with current students for an art activity with Jump the Moon Art Studio. The day ended with a walking tour of campus and a panel discussion featuring current students and peer mentors.

Response to the first-ever hybrid Visit Day was positive.

“Thank you and your team for the amazing and informative Visit Day event,” wrote one parent in an e-mail. “Although it was virtual for us, we really enjoyed it. Thanks for all your efforts.”

“Thank you for putting together this wonderful presentation,” wrote another parent. “It is very much appreciated. All of the presentations are very well thought out and focused on the relevant information. As a parent with a special needs student I can see wisdom, understanding, and kindness reflected in the planning of this program.
