The Utah State Psychology Department is home to seven graduate specializations and a thriving undergraduate major. With more than 170 PhDs awarded our alumni network is rapidly growing. Students from many different walks of life have found a home and place of belonging in Logan, Utah. The department’s commitment to seeking and training diverse students and faculty has created a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our mission is to make substantial contributions to the development of new knowledge. Department interests across ethnic/cultural communities, identity, and rural populations develops well rounded, professional and knowledgeable graduates.

PhD Specializations


Each of our departments six programs emphasize mentorship and give students the opportunity to work alongside award-winning faculty. School Psychology M.Ed. 


M.Ed. in School Counseling Program is designed to prepare students for professional licensure in school counseling and job opportunities in K-12 school counseling positions. Students receive hands-on experience through practicum and internship experiences in private and public K-12 schools.

School Psychology EdS


The EdS in School Psychology path prepares professionals who can provide psychological services in schools and educational settings. The Eds program places strong emphasis on science-based, culturally responsive, ethically informed, and legally compliant practices within schools and allied settings.

Undergraduate Program


Graduates from the psychology department are prepared for professions in mental health, research, education, and human service settings. The Department of Psychology at Utah State University is internationally known for its innovative research, teaching, and scholarship programs.
