1. Following admission to a Teacher Education Program (i.e., elementary education, professional preparation for secondary education, or any of their associated composite programs), elementary students are required to earn a grade of B- or higher; secondary students are required to earn a grade of C or higher in all licensure course. Students who receive a grade below B- for elementary or C for secondary in a licensure course must retake that course. A student is allowed to repeat the equivalent of one block of courses, or a maximum of 16 credits. A given course may be repeated once.
2. Students may repeat a field experience (i.e., practica for elementary, clinicals for secondary, or Student Teaching) one time only. Student who repeat practica will not be permitted to continue coursework in teacher education if either of the following occur:
a. Evaluations do not meet passing performance standards a maximum of two times (i.e., once during the original practicum and once during the repeat) as determined by the university supervisor.
b. The student withdraws from two practicum experiences (i.e., two levels once each or one level twice).
3. Student teaching may not be repeated without appeal and approval by a hearing panel appointed by the department head or her/his designee. The student is required to notify the department of his or her appeal within 30 days of the end of student teaching.
4. Students should be aware that repeating a course may affect financial aid and scholarships.
