Admissions for Doctoral Program (Ph.D. and Ed.D.)

General Application Requirements

The application deadline for the TEAL C&I Doctoral Program is February 1.

The application process does not begin without the $55 application fee. Once the fee is paid, it takes 4-6 weeks for all materials to be processed. All materials must be processed by February 1st.

After February 1, TEAL doctoral applications are initially reviewed for completeness and sorted by concentration areas and research interests. Then, TEAL graduate faculty review the applications and makes recommendations to the Director of Graduate Programs.

A competitive application file should meet or exceed the 5-step application requirements, contain evidence of at least two years of successful teaching experience and have completed a master's degree in education or closely related field (e.g., Instructional Technology and Learning Sciences), and identify research goals that align withfaculty member interests.

The number of accepted applicants is limited and admittance is not guaranteed. Admission announcements will be emailed in March or April. Admitted students should matriculate the Fall semester following admission.

Applications not complete within one year are closed and interested applicants would need to reapply, unless an extension is requested and approved. Please contact the TEAL Graduate Program Coordinator if you need an extension.

Potential students who are interested in being a graduate assistant, please submit your Graduate Assistant application by February 1 for priority funding. Decisions regarding assistantships for doctoral students are generally made in March or April for the following academic year. Assistantships are limited, and to be considered for an assistantship, applicants must be prepared to teach undergraduate teacher education courses or work as research assistants.
