Educational Background

Being a Graduate Teaching and Research Assistant has given me the unique opportunity to integrate research with teaching practice. It allows doctoral students to develop their scholarly voice, contribute to impactful projects, and gain valuable mentoring experience—all of which shape us into thoughtful educators and researchers prepared to advance mathematics education.

One pivotal experience in my GA role has been mentoring pre-service teachers during practicum placements. Guiding them through lesson planning, providing feedback on mathematics instruction, and modeling effective teaching practices has not only strengthened their growth but also deepened my own understanding of teacher education. This mentoring, combined with my involvement in NSF-funded projects on mathematical well-being and modeling, has been central in shaping my early career trajectory and building a strong professional network.
