Secret Subway

Synopsis

Lots of people are familiar with the idea of subway systems, even if they don't have one in their own city. Secret Subway tells the story of Alfred Beach, who created a pneumatic subway in New York City decades before the advent of the electric subway. Although his plan faced many hurdles, and ultimately his subway was abandoned, his work paved the way for later innovations. We'd be remiss if we didn't mention the incredible artwork that illustrates the story. It makes this tale truly memorable, and is sure to capture the attention of young readers.
