Roberto the Insect Architect
By Nina Laden | 2000

Synopsis
Roberto is a walking contradiction: a termite that wants to build houses. Everyone in his life tells him he's crazy to want to be an architect when he's better suited to eat homes. But despite a stream of rejection, Roberto changes the narrative when he begins anonymously building homes for other bugs in his community. This is a great story about how persistence pays off. This is great text to introduce or support lessons on design and building. Teachers will find this book a useful introduction to many real-life architects, whose bug counterparts (such as "Hank Floyd Mite" feature in the story.
