Synopsis

This book provides a snapshot of Dr. Mae Jemison's childhood. As an African-American girl, the odds of her becoming an astronaut were not in her favor. The narrative of this book shows how her family's encouragement helped her to overcome some of the early adversity she faced. Supplemental biographical material gives a high-level overview of some of the many achievements she went on to earn.
