Graduate Student - Combined Clinical/Counseling

Biography
I became a doctoral student within USU's Combined Clinical & Counseling Psychology program during fall of 2024. I work as a research assistant in Scott DeBerard's Health Psychology Lab. I have always been very passionate about the ability to combine various fields of thought and to collaborate in research. I have experience working with qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research designs while in various fields such as: Clinical Health Psychology, Multicultural Communication Studies, and most recently, Translational Addiction Science research in medical settings. Currently, my primary research interests are in substance use behavior and health disparities. Other interests of mine consist of the connection between mind & body in various kinds of disorders/symptomatology, existential phenomenological therapy, or perhaps the way we make meaning in our lives and choose to communicate that meaning, identity salience, and including diversity in all moving parts of the research process. I look forward to refining my interests as I pursue a career as a psychologist. Outside of academia, I like to try new things, which fuels my passion for traveling and stepping outside of my comfort zone. My other hobbies are just as expansive as my general interests which include art expression, romping around outside, and last but not least, hanging out with my cat, Salem!
