Psychology Doctoral Program

The USU Psychology Department doctoral programs prepare students for clinical and/or laboratory research settings. Students accepted into the doctoral specializations receive tution awards and assistantship stipends to help them focus on their educational endeavors. Faculty actively collaborate with students on a variety of research projects to help mentor and establish students in their respective fields. Students are active in presenting at national conferences, authoring journal articles and book chapters, and submitting for grant funding.

Behavior Analysis

Behavior Analysis provides students a solid understanding of conceptual, translational, basic and applied domains of behavior analysis. The specialization promotes an interdisciplinary and translational approach to behavior analysis.

Brain and Cognition

Brain and Cognition offers students the opportunity to gain a PhD in psychology with a specialization in cognition and brain. The program is home to highly qualified faculty with varied interests including cognitive development, multisensory processing, and neuropsychiatric disorders.

Combined Clinical/Counseling

Combined Clinical/Counseling Provides a combined approach to doctoral-level training across the two practice areas of clinical and counseling psychology. Students receive training across a broad spectrum of problem areas, populations, settings, and approaches for a wide range of future potential careers.

School Psychology

Students trained in our School Psychology program work to support the behavioral/mental health and educational success of youth and their caregivers. Training focuses on developing scientific problem-solving skills as well as broad competencies in assessment, intervention, and consultation.

Neuroscience

Students in the neuroscience doctoral program are expected to align themselves with a focus area. Currently, these include Translational NeuroscienceEducational Neuroscience, and Lifespan Neuroscience.
