Dr. Karen Shores

Dr. Karen Shores is a Lecturer at the Salt Lake City Statewide Campus in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Science.

Her education includes Brigham Young University, B.S. in Sociology Law and Justice Administration (1977), Brigham Young University, MHEd in Health Education and Promotion (1980), University of Utah, Ph.D. in Health Education and Promotion (2004). Her appointment at USU started August 2014.

She has taught several courses for our program including:

  • HEP 3000 Drugs and Human Behavior
  • HEP 3700 Introduction and Epidemiology
  • HEP 3800 Health Care Systems
  • HEP 4000 Health Services Administration
  • HEP 4800 Human Diseases

Dr Heath’s select professional experiences and honors include:

  • Adjunt Faculty at BYU and SLCC: Taught Health Courses and Sociology. (1990-2014)
  • Director of Education - Intermountain Healthcare-Urban Central Region, SLC: (1995-2009)
  • Staff Development Coordinator: Salt Lake Regional Medical Center: (1992-1995)
  • Poison Information Specialist/Public Education Coordinator for Intermountain Regional Poison Control Center: (1987-1992)
  • Outstanding Young Women of America, 1985
