Health Education & Promotion Advisory Board

The HEP Advisory Board is made up of public health leaders, HEP MPH alumni, and current students. The Advisory Board meets twice annually to review the mission of the HEP MPH, provide input on the program curriculum, identifies workforce development trends, and insights on program evaluation processes and results.

Bradon Bradford

Bradon has been working in public health since 2006 in a variety of responsibilities, including as an epidemiologist, environmental health director, and now as the executive director of the Southeast Utah Health Department (SEUHD). Bradon loves working in rural Utah and appreciates the independent spirit of those who live here as well as the beautiful country that makes it a popular destination for travelers worldwide. The SEUHD offers more than 80 different programs that serve 40,000 people spanning 3 counties and almost 10,000 sq. miles. Amongst many other things, SEUHD employees offer innovative programs to help combat suicide and opiate addiction, are leading efforts to clean up local public lands from human generated waste, provide model public health clinical services work, and lead a productive four county health care preparedness coalition.

Bradon is currently serving as the President of the Utah Association of Local Health Departments, has served as a member of Utah's Radiation Control Board, and received the Reed Roberts Memorial Award from the Utah Environmental Health Association and the Outstanding Public Health Professional Award from the Utah Association of Local Boards of Health. He enjoys coaching soccer, riding bicycles, and reading, but mostly being with his wife Melody and their six pretty neat children.

Holly Budge

Holly Budge, MS, CHES is the Lead Health Strategist for the Bear River Health Department (BRHD). Holly has worked for the BRHD for 28 years in various capacities. She has been the WIC (Women Infant and Children) Director, the PIO (Public Information Officer), Deputy Incident Commander during the COVID-19 pandemic, Public Health Resource Manager and Community Health Specialist. Holly led her department through the accreditation process in which they were awarded that status in March, 2022. Holly has taught classes for Utah State University and has served on numerous boards. Most recently she is the Community Board Chair and Trustee for Intermountain Health, Logan Regional Hospital. Holly earned both her Masters and Bachelors degree from Utah State University. 

Morgan Hadden

Morgan Hadden graduated from Utah State University with a B.S. and M.P.H in Health Education and Promotion. While at Utah State University, she served as president of the Health Education and Promotion Master of Public Health Student Advisory Board and worked as a graduate assistant to increase the diversity and inclusivity of the Master of Public Health Program. She has experience as a COVID-19 contact tracer and has collaborated with USU Extension’s Office of Health Equity and Community Engagement to promote harm reduction strategies in rural Utah. She is currently the Program Coordinator at Get Healthy Utah, a non-profit with the mission to create a culture of health through engaging multi-sector stakeholders, building partnerships, providing resources, and connecting efforts that support healthy eating and active living.

Joquel Begay-Haudley

Joquel Begay-Haudley is Kinyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan) and born for Tó’áhání Near the Water Clan). She comes from the Navajo tribe and lives in Chinle, Arizona on the Navajo Reservation. Joquel gained a Bachelor of Science - Health Education & Promotion with a minor in Human Develpment in 2018. She recently completed her Master of Public Health degree from USU in 2021 and started a new career in April 2022 as the Student Outreach & Recruitment Coordinator in Tsaile, Arizona. She works full-time at Diné College. Joquel has dedicated her professional career in providing support to parents and students. Joquel’s primary responsibilities include outreach efforts in the K-12 school districts, supervising the recruitment team, and overseeing the transfer advisement/support for incoming students. She enjoys helping people and being involved with the community. Joquel has made it a life goal to continuously bring awareness to culture and diversity. She has dedicated time and resources to educate herself and her community. She has a big interest in humanitarian work and study abroad. She has been a team mentor on two study abroad trips to Cambodia in 2018 and Kenya in 2019. Joquel loves traveling, being outdoors, and spending time with her family.

Sarah Hodson

Sarah Hodson currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Office of Health Promotion and Prevention at the Utah Department of Health and Human Services.  She graduated with Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Community Health Education from Utah State University.  She previously worked for the Arthritis Foundation, Greater Chicago Chapter, as the Director of Health Promotion, was the Communications Development Manager for Mountainlands Community Health Center in Provo, and served as the founding Executive Director of Get Healthy Utah, a collaborative effort focused on improving health in Utah by supporting healthy eating and active living.  

Calandra Hollie

Calandra Hollie, MPH, NRAEMT, lives in southeastern Utah in a small community called Montezuma Creek. Bi’tahnii (Folded Arms) nishli, To’baha (Water’s Edge) ba’shishchiin. These are her first two clans in the Navajo culture. She has lived here most of her life and works for the Utah Navajo Health Systems organization in the behavioral health department as the Operations Officer. She assists the Director of Behavioral Health with various grant writing and oversee operations within the behavioral health department which includes a domestic violence women and children shelter and victim services program that partners with the tribal government to provide services to the Utah and New Mexico portion of the Navajo Nation. Volunteering as a National Registered Advanced EMT with the local emergency medical services department for many years, she finds herself on the EMS schedule a few times a month. Calandra has worked in public health for many years with the Navajo Nation Health Department as a community health worker, health education technician, and as an EMT who contracts with Indian Health Services.

Kristy Jones

Kristy earned her undergraduate degree in Public Health from Utah State University (‘92) and a Master of Public Health degree from Idaho State University (’01). She currently serves as the Community Health Director for Intermountain Health. Prior to this assignment, Kristy was based at McKay-Dee Hospital and oversaw Community Health work for the Northern Utah/Southern Idaho Intermountain Healthcare hospitals.  In her new system wide role, she has oversight for the system-wide implementation of the Behavioral Health Networks, opioid prescribing, suicide prevention along with many additional projects.  She has loved the work she has been able to do with Intermountain Health over the last 11+ years. She is the past Director of the Northern Utah Area Health Education Center at Weber State University in the Dr. Ezekiel R. Dumke College of Health Professions, serving in that position for over 9 years.  Prior to coming to WSU, she spent 9 plus years at the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare as the Cancer Prevention and Control Unit Director and the Program Manager for the statewide Tobacco Prevention and Control Program.

Hailey Judd

Hailey Judd is a graduate of the USU MPH program! She currently works as the epidemiologist and program evaluator for the Cancer Genomics Program at the Utah Department of Health & Human Services. She works to inform and advance sustainable efforts through data-led decision making, specifically as it applies to improving the access and appropriate use of genetic services. Prior to this position, she worked with the USU Extension HEART Initiative researching, creating, and implementing evidence-based educational programs centered on substance use disorder and stigma reduction. Hailey is able to bring her unique experience as a previous student in the program as well as a current professional. 

Saralyn Margetts

Saralyn Margetts graduated from Weber State University with her Associate’s Degree in nursing and received a bachelor's degree in health education and promotion from Utah State University. She then worked for twenty years at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center in maternal and child health patient and staff education. She earned an MPH degree from USU, and worked for a time at the Davis County Health Department mass COVID vaccination clinic. She is currently employed in the Quality Department at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center performing Core Measure Analysis (data review of patient care quality) and quality improvement projects. She has collaborated on projects to improve sepsis management, stroke and code blue response, and comprehensive management of opioid use disorder in the Emergency Department. She enjoys cycling, travel, and spending time with her husband and five children. 

Sarah Robinson

Sarah Robinson graduated with her Master's Degree from Utah State University in Public Health - Health Education and Promotion in 2022 and is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). She has a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Southern Virginia University. She works for The Children's Center Utah, expanding their mental health services for children ages 0-6 statewide, training providers, and providing technical assistance to organizations to improve the trauma-informed nature of their care. She loves empowering people to improve their mental health through education. She is dedicated to reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness that prevents people seeking the professional they need. She is very nerdy, loves watching soccer and gymnastics, watching TV and movies, reading, writing novels and short stories, learning ASL, and spending time with her parents and cat, Jax.
