Biography

Bowling has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My parents built Logan Lanes, and I grew up immersed in the sport, attending numerous clinics and competing on Utah State University’s highly competitive college travel teams. Through these experiences, I’ve learned that every bowler is unique, with different styles, techniques, and approaches to the game. Coaching has shown me the importance of adapting my methods to each individual, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see bowlers improve, no matter how big or small the progress. I love everything about bowling—the strategy, the competition, and the sense of community it creates. Whether I’m working with beginners or experienced players, my goal is always the same: to help every bowler refine their skills and develop a deeper appreciation for the game.

Joshua helps with teaching at Logan Lanes: How did I get involved with bowling? I started working at the bowling alley at the beginning of my junior year of high school. Since we could bowl for free, I took full advantage of it. Mike would watch me bowl, and one day, he got tired of seeing me struggle. So, he asked one of the pro coaches to teach me so I wouldn’t suck.

What do I enjoy about it? I like how bowling is a mix of skill and fun. It is competitive but also social, so you can challenge yourself while hanging out with friends or meeting new people. I also enjoy the small details, like adjusting my throw to get a better shot or seeing how the lane conditions change the game. Plus, working at a bowling alley has shown me how the sport brings people together, which is pretty cool.

What do I enjoy about teaching the students at USU? Never in a million years did I think I would enjoy teaching people how to bowl then actually bowling. Seeing the students have fun and get bowling brings me so much joy. I am super thankful for Utah State and its students.

Our mission for our students: Me and Mikes mission as a bowling instructors is to help our students develop a solid foundation in bowling technique, understand the mechanics of the game, and build confidence in their skills. We want them to improve their game while having fun, whether they’re beginners or experienced bowlers. Most importantly, we hope to create an enjoyable and supportive learning environment where they can appreciate the sport and maybe even develop a lifelong passion for it.
