Biography
Hi! My name is Blake Johansen. I graduated from Utah State University in 2019 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, which means I spend my weekdays as an Embedded Systems Engineer writing code and pulling my hair out. When I'm not wrangling code I'm wrangling arm locks, teaching and practicing Japanese Jujitsu where I get my hair pulled out even more.
I'm a happy husband and father of one (soon to be two!). I'm happily outnumbered at home and thrive on the chaos. In my spare time I enjoy lifting weights, leveling up my cooking skills, attempting to play guitar, and running Dungeons & Dragons campaigns—because combat on the mat isn't enough I guess, so I need imaginary monsters to fight as well. I find great joy in making my wife laugh and roll her eyes in equal measure, and in cheering on (or trying to keep up with) the endless shenanigans of our little boy.
In class, I will attempt to bring technical precision, a sense of humor, and just enough energy to keep things interesting—because martial arts should be about discipline and having a good time.
