Jacob Garlock

Biography

I graduated from the Willamette University College of Law in 2005 and from Brigham Young University (2002) with a Bachelor’s in psychology and a business management minor. After practicing law for a year, I came to Utah State University Athletics to serve as the Compliance Director, coordinating the university’s compliance with NCAA rules. My current role is Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Services & Compliance, overseeing the compliance, academics, and men’s & women’s tennis programs. I love the opportunity to combine sports with my legal training in a career. I’ve taught Legal Issues and Risk Management in Recreation (RAM 4600) at USU each spring semester since 2016. I also teach Sports Law (KIN 6060) in the online Sports Management Masters program at USU. I am happily married to my wife Jenny, and we have four children ages 8-18. In my free time I love playing noon basketball in the fieldhouse, coaching youth sports, backpacking with my children, experiencing new and beautiful places with my family and serving in my church.
