Biography

My name is Melissa Burch. I am excited to be back on campus teaching Barre this semester!

I have been passionate about the yoga practice since my first class in 2006. After graduating from Bountiful High School in 2008 I moved to Logan to attend Utah State University with the intention of becoming a Marriage and Family Therapist. Once I received my bachelor’s degree from USU in Family, Consumer and Human Development, I decided that teaching the yoga practice to others was the perfect way to combine my passions for yoga and therapy. I believe that an individual encompasses all the tools he/she needs to change his/her life for the better, and I strive to help others see this power through my teaching.

I received my 200-hour Yoga Alliance teacher training certification in Jackson Hole in 2014 and attribute much of my success to the instructors there. I have practiced and studied several types of yoga including Hatha, Yin, Ashtanga/Vinyasa, Hot/Bikram, Restorative, Kundalini and Flying yoga. I have also completed my Total Barre teaching certification from IPTC in South Jordan, and my 300 hour YTT under Emily Perry here in Logan.

I mix lots of strength building into my flow and balance postures, and my classes are always creative, fun and energetic!

I have many passions but above all I love teaching and practicing yoga, the outdoors, and spending time with my two dogs, two daughters, and my amazing, supportive husband. I am excited to continue my teaching and training and will forever remain a student of yoga.
