The History: Changes Over the Years

Furniture Update
Kinesiology and Health Science Department collaborated with Nursing Department and USU Facilities to update the furniture in the HPER building lobby.

New Academic Programs
Coaching Certificate of Proficiency started.
Health, Wellness, and Equity Certificate of Proficiency started in collaboration with HDFS and SPERC Departments.
Outdoor Adventure Leadership Certificate of Proficiency started.

Program Name Changes
Health Education and Promotion: Community Health bachelor's emphasis renamed Community and Public Health.

New Academic Programs
Four Recreation Administration Emphases started:
- Sports Management
- Public Recreation
- Outdoor Adventure Leadership
- Program and Event Management.

Building Updates
Nursing Education Suite completed as a result the HPER Service Desk ("Cage") and locker rooms spaces were updated as well.

Labs Created
Sport Psychology Labs re-started.

Labs Created
Kids in Motion (KIM) Lab started.

New Academic Programs
Outdoor Adventure Leadership Minor started.
Masters of Sports Management started.

Program Name Changes
Human Movement Science bachelor's program changed to Kinesiology.
Health and Human Movement MS program renamed Kinesiology MS.

Deactivated Academic Programs
Sports Medicine specialization in the MS program deactivated.

Program Name Changes
Parks and Recreation bachelor’s program name changed to Recreation Administration.

Removal of Academic Programs
Health Education specialization in Health and Human Movement MS program removed from catalog.
Masters of Health Promotion (MHP) program removed from catalog.

Front Office Remodel
Department main office was remodeled. Started in the Fall and finished January 2018. 

Labs Opened in New USU Building
Dennis G. Dolny Suite was built as part of the Sorenson Clinical Center for Excellence, finished in the Spring 2018 semester.

New Academic Program
Yoga minor started.

Department Name Changed
Department name changed from Health, Physical Education, and Recreation to Kinesiology and Health Science. 

New Academic Program
Health Education and Promotion Master of Public Health started.

Perception-Action Lab started.
Neuromechanics Lab started.

Department participated in interdisciplinary Disability Disciplines PhD program through the Pathokinesiology specialization.
