Biography

I am a self-motivated recreation professional that learns new skills quickly, with experience in recreation management, including sports programing, event planning, outdoor recreation, fitness programing, facility management, recreation instruction & officiating. Additional professional full time experience includes: sales & marketing, customer service, project management, & outdoor structures design. I have a passion for recreation and history, excellent communication skills, and a keen ability to connect with people.  I started my career with Provo City Recreation, and have worked for Moab City and Draper City also as Recreation Director and Recreation Coordinator respectively.  I completed the URPA Leadership Academy and several NRPA Professional training programs.  Additional details about my experience in my LinkedIn profile.  Some of the most rewarding experiences of my career have been guiding interns and employees through career building opportunities that take them to the next level.

Most meaningful thing learnded or experienced with the KHS department:

While teaching for USU I learned from the students that there is more than one way to approach the challenges we face in our field. I appreciated the fresh, new, innovative approach of students in the program.

Advice for current students/recent graduates:

Get experience in the field of recreation early while you are still a student.  Consider any opportunity as a stepping stone in building your career and look for ways to get additional training and certifications to set yourself apart as the best candidate for any position.
