Biography

I have spent the last (almost 30 years) teaching classes from SE Idaho to Vernal Utah, and lots of places in between!  I just took a job stepping into an administrative role for the Salt Lake City School District.  I help oversee all the elementary PE Paras in our district, give training, and assist on the human sexuality committee and healthy lifestyles.   I am also the current president of SHAPE Utah, which was formerly UAHPERD.

Most meaningful thing learned or experienced during my time as a student:

I learned how to teach children!  I was taught by staff including Pete Mathesius, Hilda Fronske, Rolayne Wilson, Brad Strand, Steve Dunn, and many others.  I think I learned the most from Hilda Fronske who taught me the importance of using cues!  I also learned the value of getting involved!  That served me well as I was awarded the Outstanding Student Major Award.

Advice for current students/recent graduates:

First of all, NETWORK.  Volunteer.  Begin immediately and continue growing your CV or resume.  Life is just beginning for you, and yet in the blink of an eye you will be middle aged like me!  Work hard, play often, but most importantly always GIVE BACK!
