My name is McKinley Outsen. I recently graduated from the RAM program at Utah State. I had the hardest time finding the right field for me, but once I found Recreation Administration it was a perfect fit. The field allowed me to have endless opportunities for my future that fit into all of my passions. My career background is mainly in outdoor ministry and leadership. I worked for a camp in the beautiful Idaho Sawtooth Mountains for 4+ years. That led me to receiving my bachelors degree in RAM and then to my current job as a middle school and high school youth director for a church in Billings, MT. My degree has allowed to me to follow my multiple passions and turn them into a career. I am very thankful for the RAM faculty and department for the endless support and opportunities they have provided me!
Most meaningful thing learned or experienced during my times as a student:
It's not what you know, it's who you know. Personal connections is vital in this field of work and will take you a long way!
Advice for current students or recent graduates:
Stick with your gut and passions, this field doesn't lead to just one career path. You can take everything you learned and apply it to what you want to do - you will find the right fit!
