Macy has worked as a recreation coordinator at Sandy City since 2018. She has been nicknamed the 'Captain Fun of Sandy', but most of her friends describe her as Leslie Knope. She's been doing recreation industry analytics for 8 years in both the private and public sectors. Macy earned her Bachelors degree from BYU in 2014 and her Masters degree from the U in 2021 (Recreation & Positive Psychology). She's also worked as a Spin Instructor, Director for The Color Run, D1 Athletic Mentor, and Aquatics.
Most meaningful thing learned or experienced during my time as a student:
Making someone's day, helping someone remember how to play, and teaching someone a skill are powerful experiences.
Advice for current students/recent graduates:
Learn some hard skills! Most people are in this industry because of the love we have for it, but hard skills (excel, budgeting, finance, accounting, Adobe products, marketing) will set you apart.
If you want a master's degree - take the GRE ASAP.
