Kami

Kami, a proud graduate of the HDFS program in 2022, has found her calling as an Early Childhood Consultant at The Children's Center Utah. In her role, Kami provides invaluable support to early childhood educators and families, aiming to enhance the emotional well-being of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and their families. Drawing upon her HDFS education, Kami seamlessly integrates her expertise in early childhood development with a profound understanding of equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging (EDIB) principles. Reflecting on her journey, Kami affirms, "While the coursework on early childhood certainly has been helpful, I value even more the discussions about EDIB. My time in the HDFS program perfectly laid that foundation for me."

Kami's decision to pursue HDFS was sparked by a transformative experience during her second year at Utah State University. Initially a music major, Kami's encounter with HDFS 1500 ignited a passion within her, leading her to make a degree change. Throughout her academic journey, Kami learned invaluable lessons in resilience, self-worth, and the power of determination. Her advice to aspiring HDFS students echoes her own journey: pursue your passion wholeheartedly and recognize the immense potential for meaningful impact within the field. As Kami continues her journey of learning and growth, she exemplifies the transformative potential of HDFS education in shaping fulfilling careers and making a difference in the lives of others.
