About the Lab
Dr. Muñoz collaborates with Dr. Lauri Nelson, a professor in deaf education, in the Listening and Spoken Language lab. They investigate parent and professional factors that facilitate/interfere with outcomes for deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) children learning to communicate using spoken language.
Parents of children with hearing loss often struggle with hearing loss diagnosis and effective daily management. This difficulty can interfere with timely diagnosis of hearing loss and consistent implementation of appropriate intervention strategies. If left unattended, challenges can negatively impact child developmental outcomes, and later academic success. Resources developed in this lab are available in English and Spanish.
