Dr. Lauri Nelson is a Professor in the Department of Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education. She is the Director of Sound Beginnings as well as the LSL Interdisciplinary Graduate Training Program. Dr. Nelson has a dual background as a pediatric audiologist and as a deaf educator. Her research interests are in the language and literacy achievements of children who are DHH. Her favorite part about working at USU is having fun with the children in Sound Beginnings and in her associations with the graduate students as she watches their growth and development. Dr. Nelson is a Utah native and lives in Davis County. Her family enjoys football, being in the mountains, traveling, and any event that includes food.
