Biography

I am a student in the Clinical/Counseling Psychology PhD specialization. I received my bachelor of fine arts in printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design. After working in a few artist studios and printing presses, I made a career change when I had the opportunity to lead art therapy groups at a psychiatric hospital and receive training in acceptance and mindfulness-based approaches. This is where my heart has remained ever since. I worked as a research assistant at Brown University on projects applying Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to diverse patient populations. Now working with Dr. Michael Levin at USU, I study the effectiveness of ACT interventions primarily using self-help and narrative-based approaches. Clinically, my focus tends to be on depression and serious mental illness.
