ITLS student wins Naomi Miyake Outstanding Student CSCL award

Utah State University’s Instructional Technology and Learning Sciences (ITLS) PhD student Saríah López-Fierro and Dr. Ha Nguyen won the Naomi Miyake Outstanding Student CSCL Award at the International Society for Learning Sciences (ISLS) annual meeting this summer.
Their research is an innovative project focused on human-AI collaboration in conducting qualitative research. The project compares the coding process between human-AI and human-human teams and presents novel data visualizations to make transparent the contributions of Generative AI tools.
The project received positive feedback from conference attendees. It has led to follow-up work and new collaboration opportunities with researchers exploring the applications of Generative AI to qualitative research.
