Elementary and Early Childhood Education
The program prepares prospective teachers through seven majors that combine available licensure areas (e.g., Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, and Special Education) in stand-alone, dual, and composite degrees. The program emphasizes informed and responsive teaching developed through extensive field experience. The Utah State University elementary licensure program prepares teachers for grades K-6 as part of a K-8 licensure recommendation. Individuals who also complete endorsement specialization requirements (e.g., Level 2 Middle School Mathematics, English Teaching) are able to teach in K-8 classrooms. Students have an opportunity to get an early start in teaching endorsement programs and even, potentially, a master's degree program, as well.
