Biography

Darcie Peterson is the advisor for the Special Education and Rehabilitation Department at Utah State University.  She earned her B.S. in Special Education (Mild/Moderate and Severe/Profound), Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education from Western Oregon University and went on to earn an M.Ed. in Special Education from USU.  She taught in the public school system before coming to USU.  She has taught many of the special education courses through the years but currently teaches Education of Exceptional Individuals and Foundations of Effective Assessment and Instructional Practices.  She advises the undergraduate students, oversees student teaching  and coordinates the Undergraduate Committee.  In addition to her position at USU, she is a trainer for The IRIS Center (“a national center dedicated to improving education outcomes for all children, especially those with disabilities birth through age twenty-one"), by providing online evidence-based practice resources for faculty and professional development programs.
